I'd love you to love me

I've recovered from my birthday on Saturday!!!

Just kidding, I didn't go too crazy but it was THUPER DUPER FUN! And I got some GREAT prezzies from my family. Everything has a little joke to it and I can actually use it all. I'm going to have to make a post in the future when I finally get my camera and show you all.

We got some new movies over the weekend, The Town, Its Kind of a Funny Story, and The Social Network. I strongly recommend all of them :)

So in the spirit of movies.... I give you my top 10! (in no particular order)

1. 10 Things I Hate About You- So Heath Ledger makes this movie, but all the other characters are almost as lovable. And the American high school stereotypes? Just perfect.

2. Pride and Prejudice- First of all, I LOVE period films, the atmosphere, the costumes, and, of course, the way people talk. Kiera Knightley is stunning in this movie and the love story is phenomenal. I can watch this movie over and over again.

3. She's the Man- I love Amanda Bynes in basically everything she does but this was her best and most eduring work. I have never met anyone who hasn't seen it and it seriously makes me laugh every 2 minutes. One of the funniest movies ever.

4. Never Let me Go- This so heart-renching and yet so beautiful. The cast is amazing with Kiera Knightley, Carey Mulligan and Andrew Garfield and the story itself is thoughtful and interesting. This is something I watch when I'm in a contemplative mood. It's kind of leaves you with the same feels as Atonement.

5. Star Wars (the oldest three)- My dad LOVED Star Wars when it came out, so he would make my sisters and I watch it when we were little. Originally I loved it because he loved it, but then, as I grew older I started to love it because of the familiar characters and the awesome story line. And the aliens :)
6. The Lord of the Rings (the trilogy)- Frankly, I just love the fantasy. I love the whole world that is created and I love the epic battles. Plus there are elves, which is pretty awesome.
7. The Breakfast Club- Classic 80's movie. Everyone needs to see it at least once. I always wished I could do something like this in high school but I never got in trouble so I was never in detention so I never got to meet all the cool people there ( ok I was delusional).

8. The Little Mermaid- MY FAVORITE DISNEY PRINCESS AS A KID. Seriously. "Out of the sea, wish I could be part of that world."

9 The Hangover- This doesn't even need an explanation but I'm going to give it anyway. I laugh the entire time I watch it everytime I watch it. I can watch it on repeat and still laugh. I saw it 3 times in theatres, so I was pretty much obssessed from the first time I saw it.

10. Sweet Home Alabama- Omigod, such a cute movie it gives me happy tingles everytime I watch it! Even though I have it on DVD, if its on TV I'll still watch it with the comercials. Gahh I can't get enough of Reese Witherspoon as a super Southern hillbillie turned high class New Yorker.
So thats my list. There are so many more awesome movies that I couldn't fit on this list but these are that movies I can consistantly watch over and over again.

What are your favorite movies? Do you like any of the same ones?

Fun Fact:

There are actually 9 planned films in the Star Wars series. George Lucas made 4 through 6 first, then 1 through 3 came out a few years ago. There are no plans so far to make the last three.

Baby its cold outside

Ummmmm no it is not. It is actually 101 degrees fahrenheit outside, ( over 38 degrees celcius for you Europeans) but I still can't stop thinking about sweaters that I want for this fall. It didn't help that Urban Outfitters just sent me an email promoting all the new sweaters they got in!

I have been wanting an oversized sweater for a while now. Either thick or thin knit will do, as long as it hangs perfectly. I've picked out a few that I am particularly lusting after from Urban.

Silence & Noise Mohair Sweater in Gold
This sweater is just lovely. It looks so soft and I love the color. I need more yellow, or whatever this is, in my wardrobe. Plus I love the heathery look to it.

Cooperative Intarsia Sweater in Sapphire
Ok come on, this is a sweater with clouds and umbrellas on it! Who wouldn't want that? Seriously I would wear something like this all the time.

Reformed by The Reformation for Urban Renewal Cosby Boyfriend Sweater in Dark
This is the ultimate big patterned comfy sweater. And true to its name it totally has the Bill Cosby vibe going. Long live imitation 90's clothes!

BDG Marled Cable Fisherman Cardigan in Green
Lastly this looks so warm and perfect to curl up in on chilly, rainy days. I also need more green in my wardrobe and cardigans are usually a lot more versatile than normal sweaters so this might be the one I buy.

Unfortunately, these sweaters, though not SUPER expensive, are not on the cheap side, so I will probably only invest in one.

Lucky for me I'm going to the Houston Galleria tomorrow for my birthday (maybe I can finagle a surprise present out of my sisters!) and they have a pretty good Urban Outfitters so I'm excited.

Which sweater would you choose?

Fun Fact:

The company Urban Outfitters, Inc. also owns Anthropologie and Free People.

Take a picture, it lasts longer

I bought myself a new camera! WHOOP WHOOP!

Its a Nikon Coolpix S6100

Isn't it pretty?
The reason I had to buy a new one is actually a short story but can tie into a longer one so I decided to bore you with the long ordeal I have had with 4 different cameras.

My first digital camera I got my freshman year of high school I think. I loved it, it was great. I had it for about 2 years. It got slow and I needed a new one the summer before my senior year because I was going on a trip with Habitat for Humanity to Guatemala. I got this great lime green Fujifilm camera that I loved. Needless to say I forgot my camera at home when I left for the trip and I realized it right before I got to the airport. SMART MOVE.

So I used my camera the rest of senior year without incident, taking crazy pictures and stuff.
Oh yeah, I was really cool
Without incident, that is, until the night of graduation.

Now in my high school, we have this thing called prograd, or project graduation. We stay at the school all night after graduation and have raffles and play on inflatables and do basically normal 18 year old stuff. We also had a hypnotist come, which I must say was pretty fabulous. But near the end of the night (so probably around 4 in the morning) I was holding a plasitic bag with some of my stuff in it, including my camera. I also had a cup of orange juice in the same hand.  I decided to check the time on my watch, which was on THE SAME HAND. I poured some orange juice in the bag (seriously? was I that out of it? guess so.) My camera died in the sugar stickiness that is orange juice.

So I got a new one (which I paid for, it was my fault) that was the same camera but orange. This camera got me through summer and a little bit into my first semester at college. I ended up being at a frat event. I set my camera down on the bench next to me. Some one then swung their bag onto the bench, knocking my camera right into a cup of beer. I mean seriously? it couldn't have been to the left or to the right? (keep in mind that two weeks before this I had dropped my phone into a cup of water, I know I'm talented).

As sort of a precaution and sort of a joke I then bought myself the waterproof version of the Fujifilm. And it worked great!

But then I took it with me for my semester of studying abroad.

There were a lot of great picture opportunities and I got really excited and might have dropped the camera a few times.

I finally took it in the water for the first time since I got back to the states a few weeks ago. I was visiting my cousins in Chicago and wanted to take pool pictures. Well, unbeknownst to me, the screen had scratched a little. This meant that water easily streamed into the stream when I put it underwater, ergo camera not waterproof anymore.

That is why I am buying myself a new camera.

God help me if I drop this one in a cup of water!

Fun Fact:

The first digital camera was built in 1975.

You say it's your birthday

Well, it is my 21ST BIRTHDAY IN LESS THAN A WEEK!!! Partytime am I right? August 13th, celebrating the fact it didn't land on a Friday this year. (and a big FUCK YOU to all the people who usually remind me that it is a bad luck birthday).

Actually I am not going to be throwing a Grand Old Drinking Party nor go to a bar and get hammered. All my home friends are either back at school or on trips and I won't see my really good friends until I'm back at school later in August and even then, no one else I know is 21 so its not like my friends could legally party drink with me.

What I AM doing that I am super excited about is going to the Brazilian restaurant Fogo de Chao! yummy! Lots of meat! I am not a big meat person usually but for this I will make a happy exception.

I was also thinking about what I might want for my birthday, getting all excited and such.

So obviously the first thing I thought of was Magic Showerheads!!! for all your shower concert needs!
Actually that would be pretty cool but I have to admit they were not on the top of my birthday list.

I was sincerely thinking about it the other day and I realized that I couldn't pinpoint anything I wanted. The only thing I had sort of asked for was a Nook because I go through too many books too quickly and the piles were getting obnoxious. My mom actually bought me one at the start of the summer and I love it!

And other than the Dr. Martens from a previous post, I can't think of anything specific that I want. Like I don't want a certain dress or a new ipod or iphone or whatever.

I guess the best thing would be money so that I could buy whatever clothes I really wanted, or anything else for that matter.

But money doesn't seem that personal. Maybe I will just hope that whoever happens to give me gifts (don't worry Mom and Dad you're already off the hook!) will pick out something that reminds them of me and everything will be a surprise.

And I do love surprises
obviously my surprise face will be similar to this one
Fun Fact:

Jehovah's Witnesses do not celebrate birthdays because they are place in a negative light in the Bible and are historically linked to Paganism.

Brits do it better

I have a slight immense obssession with British TV shows. I don't know what it is about them but there just seems to be that little bit more that American TV doesn't have.

These are my favorites:

1. Skins (All generations, they're all so different but I still love all of them)
2. Misfits

3. Inbetweeners

Now these are mostly just from E4 and are kind of just high school shows but I still absolutely love them. Skins for its totally irreverent way they look at teens and the glamorous look of trashy teenage lifestyle. Misfits is like Heroes but all teenage delinquents with super powers and a lot more swearing. And Inbetweeners is the British version of any normal guy's high school experience.

Unfortunately Inbetweeners has ended but I am still WAITING IMPATIENTLY for the other shows to start again.

If any of you have any more shows to recommend I am totally open to it. British or otherwise.

I might later do a post on great American shows... but I'll have to think carefully about that.

Fun Fact:

The show Skins' writing team has an average age of 21 and includes several "teenage consultants."

Just throw it in the bag

Tomorrow I get to go to the Charity shop that my mom works at for the first time. YAY! I am so excited! I can just see it in my head now. Piles of random crap that I have to sift through until I find a gem of a peice of clothing. And then another one, and another, man I'm going to be on a role!!

Actually no, that is false. I have never gone thrift shopping before. I know SCANDALOUS RIGHT? I expect to be able to dress fashionably without having shopped at a thrift store?? Ok chill out, I'm working on it, obviously.

Frankly the only thrift store that I have really gone to is the Goodwill near my college campus and really it's only to get cheap clothes to make into costumes for themed frat parties that I won't mind getting spilled beer, or anything else, on. Theres this one shirt I boutght there that is cheetah print with purple flowers. I don't even know why I bought it, I just... have it.There is one good and fashionable purchase that I made there though. It was a pair of black suede boys dress shoes (I think they were boys, I guess they could have been a small mens size). They looked like a pair of flat dr martens that are so popular now. Unfortunately I only have one of the shoes in my closet at the moment so I am hopeing that the other one is still in storage at school or something.

So they look like this but suede and with no yellow stitching

I am hoping that I can score big at the charity shop tomorrow. Or at least as good as these shoes.

Now if only I can figure out where the eff I left the left shoe!

Fun Fact:

Goodwill is not just for clothes, it also provides job training, employment placement services, and helps those with disabilities. There are Goodwill communities in 16 different countries.

The Game.... It involves an Encyclopedia... sort of

There is this game that someone somewhere taught me and it turns out its pretty awesome. All you you need is 2 people, each with a computer and access to the internet.

It is called The Wikipedia Game
You may have heard of it.

But if you haven't here are the rules.

1. Each of you need to start on two totally different Wikipedia pages, and they can be for anything (for example me and my roomate started out at Thomas Jefferson and Japan respectively).

2. Agree on another absolutely random endpoint page (ours happened to be bagels).

3. See who can get to the end page the fastest! (She did)

Look at that! 3 easy steps, hours of fun! No, really, my roomate and I played this game for literally hours once. I know we're really fun people to hang out with.

But go ahead try it.... I DARE YOU
Fun Fact:

Bohemia Bagel is the best bagel place in Prague. (ok this isn't a fact BUT ITS FROM EXPERIENCE)

Who's the Punk Now?

So I have had my eye on these babies for a while
I know that they traditionally represent goth or punk culture, especially in the 90's but I think you can get around that.

I think they can be really versitile, even in the purple.

Couldn't you see them with the whole tights and jean shorts combo we've been seeing alot (especially during my semester in Madrid)? Or with an over sized top or sweater and leggings?

I could even see myself with white ones
I actually just bought some much more normal yet still absolutely beautiful boots for fall. Ok I know IT IS STILL SUMMER but they were on sale for less than $100 and I really couldn't pass that up. They are these boots but black from Steve Madden.
Unfortunately that means I have spent what I wanted to spend on Dr Martens on these boots.

Besides I think my mom would flip if I said I wanted a pair, even if they were purple.

Oh well, I could always get a used pair on ebay!

Fun Fact:

80% of Dr. Martens first decade of sales (it began in 1947) went to women over the age of 40.

I'm melting, I'm melting!

ok so it has been RIDICULOUSLY hot these past few weeks just about everywhere in the country. Like high 90's in North Dakota hot.

Luckily, probably because we are closer to the gulf in Houston, we have been safely in the 90's without going into the triple digits. UNTIL THIS WEEK.

I walked out to my car this morning at 8 o'clock (8 o'clock mind you) and I almost melted! The humidity was so high!!! I was walking through soup! I walked from my back door to my car in the drive way and I WAS SWEATING.

I can't even deal.
Fun Fact:

The hottest it has ever gotten in Houston, TX was 108 degrees C, on September 4, 2000 (seriously Houston, September?)

The First Ever Post

Hi! so I decided that like everyone else in the world I am going to start a blog!

I looked up the definition for bumble and it said
Bumble: to bungle or blunder awkwardly; muddle

Well it seems that I shall just be muddling through different topics on this blog.

I will start with a fun fact... shall I do a fun fact of the day and make it a feature? Maybe.

Poodles originally started out as water dogs and can actually be called a retriever. They originated in Germany where they were called Pudels.

Cute huh?

I have my own little Poodle. His name is Lukas. He has Separation Anxiety and has to take doggie prozac. He is officially crazy.

I also have a Maltipoo, Toby, though I dont think he looks like most Maltipoos I've met.
My Babies! I love them both to bits! But they are both crazy in their own way.
